Understanding Your Benefits

Routine Prophylaxis vs. Gingival Scaling

Membership hygiene benefits apply to routine prophylaxis when that procedure is clinically appropriate. Membership status does not determine the procedure performed—the patient's clinical findings do.

If scaling in the presence of generalized moderate or severe gingival inflammation (D4346) is clinically indicated, D4346 is not included as a routine prophylaxis benefit.

Optional Add-On

Ortho Hygiene Enhancement

An optional enhancement for active Trooth Kids or Trooth Teens members in braces or other orthodontic appliances who would benefit from more frequent professional hygiene visits.

  • Adds 2 additional routine hygiene visits per membership year, for approximately 4 hygiene visits annually
  • Designed to support plaque control and gingival health around orthodontic appliances
  • Routine prophylaxis must remain clinically appropriate; D4346 or other therapeutic gingival/periodontal treatment is separate
  • Healthy Gums membership and the Ortho Hygiene Enhancement do not stack for the same additional hygiene visits

Included With Every Active Membership

Complimentary Airway-Focused Orthodontic Consultation

All Trooth Members receive a complimentary orthodontic consultation focused on the child's growth and development. Trooth's airway-conscious approach to orthodontic treatment planning considers more than simply straightening teeth.

  • Palatal development and arch width
  • Dental and facial growth
  • Jaw and bite relationships
  • Tooth eruption, crowding, and spacing
  • Oral habits and functional development
  • Opportunities to guide growth when early orthodontic intervention may be beneficial

When orthodontic treatment is appropriate, treatment planning considers the palate, developing jaws, available space, and overall craniofacial growth.

This orthodontic consultation is not intended to diagnose or treat sleep-related breathing disorders or other medical airway conditions. Referral to an appropriate medical provider may be recommended when indicated.

Available to All Active Members

Tethered Oral Tissues & Oral Function Screening

Our pediatric dental team can evaluate the tongue, lips, frena, and oral function as part of the child's overall growth and development assessment, when clinically appropriate.

When indicated, we may discuss functional concerns, additional evaluation, supportive therapies, treatment options, or referral to another healthcare professional.

Screening does not mean that treatment or frenectomy is necessary. Recommendations are individualized based on each child's clinical findings and functional needs.

Important Disclosures

Routine prophylaxis is included only when clinically appropriate. Scaling, periodontal/gingival therapy, debridement, or other therapeutic hygiene services are not automatically included as a routine cleaning benefit. The dentist determines the clinically appropriate procedure based on the patient's oral health at the time of service.

Treatment discounts apply only to eligible services. The final membership agreement identifies exclusions such as outside provider fees, facility/hospital fees, anesthesia fees, outside laboratory fees, products, and other excluded services.

Services furnished under the membership agreement are not to be submitted to dental insurance for reimbursement.

This agreement does not provide health insurance coverage, including the minimum essential coverage required by applicable federal law. It provides only the services described herein. It is recommended that health care insurance be obtained to cover dental services not provided for under this in-office membership care agreement.
